Disney vacation rentals in Orlando are the most popular of Florida holidays.  It's no wonder when Walt Disney World makes Orlando probably one of the most exciting holiday destinations in the world.  Because of this we have dedicated separate web pages to the attractions and the shopping malls and outlets in the Orlando area. 

However, having travelled all the way to Orlando you should take the opportunity to maximise your Florida holidays.  Disney vacation rentals in Orlando provide the ideal central base that enables you to go off with ease to enjoy some of the coastal towns, beaches and resorts.  Florida has, arguably, some of the longest, cleanest and most beautiful beaches in the USA, if not the world.  And a lot of these beaches, towns and resorts are all within easy reach - both Atlantic and Gulf coasts.  Details about some of these places are provided below.

 Atlantic Coast

It's been called the quintessential beach town, and Cocoa Beach, an hour's drive east of Orlando on Florida's beautiful Space Coast, exemplifies everything that a classic beach should be.  The tropical climate and exotic landscapes of Cocoa Beach offer endless ways to enjoy recreation and leisure on its six-mile stretch of white, sandy beach.

Historic Cocoa Village is located in old, restored downtown Cocoa, Florida.  For a memorable afternoon you can walk historic streets and avenues that tell stories from the past, discover Cocoa Village.  Walk along the Indian River walk, explore antique stores housed in historic buildings, eat an old fashioned ice cream cone, or rest a spell with a cup of coffee in a Victorian style coffee house.  Local Jazz and Classical musical groups entertain crowds and there are also holiday celebrations including a New Orleans style Mardi Gras and other special events along with five Craft and Fine Art Shows during the season.

World famous for its racetrack and the Daytona 500 Nascar race, Daytona also has approximately 23 miles of unspoiled sandy beaches.  Just drive along the beach and choose your spot!

New Smyrna Beach remains almost untouched, free of the heavy traffic, large crowds and pollution that plague most Florida beaches.  The beach stretches  for 13.2 miles, protected to the north by an imposing rock jetty and to the south by the Canaveral National Seashore Park, a designated wildlife preserve.  Dubbed the "World's Safest Bathing Beach," New Smyrna Beach is also protected by rock ledges 25 - 40 miles offshore which eliminate dangerous undercurrents.

St. Augustine is the US's oldest city and is known as the 'Old City'.  The area has an historic district, which includes landmarks like, Castillo De San Marcos, Fort Matanzas and Casa Monica.  As with any location steeped in history, there are many exciting museums located in the area.  In addition, fishing, diving, surfing, parasailing and other water sports are abundantly accommodated. The town also boasts 43 pristine miles of beaches.  There's the right type of beach for everyone: some permit vehicles while others allow only pedestrians. Some of the area beaches produce abundant shelling opportunities, while others are covered only in luxurious fine, golden sand.

 Gulf Coast

Home of pristine white sand beaches, clear Gulf waters, warm sunshine and plenty of hospitality.  Clearwater is located in Pinellas County on the west coast of Florida and is actually an island measuring several miles long but only four city blocks wide.  No matter where you are on the island - you are near the beach!  With miles and miles of white sand beaches, great restaurants, and plenty of gift shops and night life - Clearwater Beach is pretty close to paradise!

Naples and Marco Island, Florida, on the Gulf of Mexico is a tropical paradise of luxury hotels, shopping, dining, beaches and golf.  With more golf holes per capita than golfers can shake their sticks at, Naples has been designated the "Golf Capital of the World".  Next to golf, the sugar white sand beaches are probably the most popular attraction to the Naples, Florida area.

Sarasota is a beautiful city and has some wonderful beaches.  Its 'Siesta Key Beach' is known for having the whitest and finest sand in the world.

St. Pete Beach is located on the gulf coast of Florida west of St. Petersburg, home of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays (Baseball Team).  The beach area offers a variety of restaurants, shops, services, and wonderful accommodations along with miles  of white, sandy beaches.

St Petersburg is a beautiful city with many wonderful sites such as 'The Pier' with many different events and music festivals taking place each week.  Also take the time to enjoy St. Petersburg's oldest living museum - the Sunken Gardens.  It is a botanical paradise in the midst of a bustling city.  This 100 year old tropical garden is home to some of the oldest botanical specimens.  Unwind as you stroll through the meandering paths and discover a live oak tree that dates back over 200 years.  Indulge in the cascading waterfalls, feel the flutter of wings in the butterfly enclosure, or talk to an inquisitive flamingo.  But probably more famous to St Pete's is the Salvador Dali Museum.

Venice, Florida abounds in natural beauty and splendour. Venice Florida offers something for everyone including beautiful beaches its quaint downtown shopping area and the old Florida scenery along the Myakka River. Caspersen Beach for example, is longest beach in Sarasota County.  It has been left in its natural state, uncultivated, the windswept, and secluded.  This is an exceptionally good area to look for and find pre-historic sharks teeth as well as enjoyable shelling. It is also site of the annual Sharks Tooth and Seafood Festival.
